Funky fishing starts with the fishing, the Sunday weigh-in, family fun activities, entertainment, food, refreshments, our unique public fish auction and prize-giving at the beautiful Taurikura Bay.

3.00 pm Fishing Opens

Our new earlier opening time allows for flexibility and more fishing!

Sunday, 7 April 2024

11.00 am Family Fun Day Opening Time
Food, Refreshments, Stalls, Kids Activities, Live Music at the Taurikura Bay event site.

11.00 am Weigh-In Opens
Taurikura Beach (paddock by tennis courts).
Limited vehicle / boat / trailer parking on site.  Please take extra care looking out for children.

2.30 pm Fishing/Weigh-In Closes
Be in line as sorry, no fish accepted after 2.30 pm.

3.00 pm (approx.) Funky Fish Public Fresh Fish Auction
Our unique fresh fish auction where you have a second chance to take home a great catch! This is always a fun and popular part of the day with lots of entertainment and plenty of bargains.

From 3.30 pm onwards prize giving start
Main stage at the event site.

• Order: Nippers, junior, adult, diving,  general & spot prizes.
• Please note: Winners of prizes must be present to collect their prize.

5.00 pm (approx.) Draw for major prizes
At the close of the Fresh Fish Auction comes the draw for our Major Prize.

This is a spot prize for ticket holders.

You do not have to fish to be in with a chance to win, you just need to be present at the draw and have purchased a fishing entry ticket.

All Proceeds Fundraised During the Funky Fishing & Diving Event Go Towards Supporting Whangarei Heads School & Community Library
